There are some people who have a burn out type of behavior. That is, they get really into something and go all out but can’t maintain. This burn out behavior is really dangerous and takes the fun out of activities can be filled with fun. So this idea can also be applied to working out. Some people when they start working out go way to hard and do serious damage to their body and their moral. A sign that somebody is doing too much is consistent complaint about being sore, chest pains and if some one keeps saying “no pain, no gain” they most likely are doing too much!
I believe that mantras and slogans are good motivations but you must remember that pain is your body telling you that you need to stop. Most of the time it is better to listen to pain then push through it. A mantra I like to keep in my head when I work out is “sweat is fat crying.” This mantra helps remind me that the goal is sweat, not pain or chest pains.
Another thing people do not know is that you can push your heart to beat to fast to the point you are actually damaging it. Your heart should only beat so fast and if you push your heart to 100% that is when you are actually doing more damage to your heart. We all know that your heart is a muscle and just like are the muscle in your body if you push it to far you will cause serious damage.
